According to CostMine’s 2018 Canadian mine survey results geologists and mining engineers received a 1 to 3.5% salary increase for the year, while their U.S. counterparts reported an increase of 1% to 20% in the companion US survey.

When comparing these salaries in our most recent reports at US and Canadian mines, it appeared that Canadian metal mines were paying their employees as much as 22% more than their US counterparts. However, with the current exchange rate factored in, the tables turn and in equivalent US dollars, American employees earned 5 – 24% more than their Canadian counterparts.
